Residencies

For each residency, we send 4 – 5 songwriters, producers, and sound or light engineers from various disciplines and regions to a «creative space» for 3 – 5 days.

Carte Blanche – there are no guidelines, objectives, or specific themes. Participants are selected by Helvetiarockt based on region, discipline, and age.

Each musician has their own network and national and international partners. The larger one’s network becomes, the more opportunities and possibilities open in the future.
You need to be a Helvetiarockt member to participate in the residency program. You can become a member here (if you’re not already).

Content

What participating musicians do on the residency is entirely up to them. We offer space and time away from everyday life. If you sign up for the Powerplay or Musigstöckli residency, we recommend you make use of the studio opportunity. This would entail communicating studio plans ahead of time). Meal times are spent together with the rest of the group to exchange and get to know each other.

Technical equipment

You bring what you want to use. There is some equipment and a music room / rooms / studios available at the locations.

Dates and signing up

We want to connect musicians nationally and build new networks – therefore ideally the residencies consist of musicians / producers who do not know each other yet and are from different geographical regions. It is important that you can be present for the whole time.

Locations

The «legendary» Powerplay Studios is located on Greifensee, close to Zurich. Their clients include Gianna Nannini, Lady Gaga, Lenny Kravitz, Prince and Wu-Tang Clan and many more I Single rooms w/ kitchen available (Self catering with food budget from Helvetiarockt.) I Mid-size Studio will be available on 3 days.

Musigstöckli Lützelflüh (Emmental, Kanton Bern)

Tucked away in Emmental, your hosts Nicole and Micha offer a functional infrastructure in a relaxed, inspiring environment, far away from any distractions. One room with 6 beds – cats on site (incase you’re allergic), 3 vegan meals per day will be cooked on site by the Musigstöckli team.

Case à chocs Neuchâtel

Located by the lake, Case à Chocs has an architectural style that is a cross between industrial heritage and alternative culture. It comprises of 3 main spaces (Grande Salle, Queen Kong and Interlope), this residency is ideal for artists who would like to work on live shows and lighting for the live show. There might also be the opportunity to meet people for the local music scene. Accommodation will be in apartments in the old town. (Self catering with food budget from Helvetiarockt.)
